New York, Sept. 26 -- External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar on Friday (local time) said that the emergence of groupings such as BRICS does not represent an alternative to the United Nations, stressing that BRICS remains supportive of the UN and its reform.

Speaking at an interactive session in New York organised by the Observer Research Foundation (ORF), moderated by President of ORF, Samir Saran, Jaishankar said BRICS represents a grouping of countries with common viewpoints, interests and outlooks, while highlighting that the BRICS Summit had reaffirmed the centrality of the UN to the international system.
