New Delhi, Sept. 16 -- Following the introduction of the Merchant Discount Rate (MDR) on large-value UPI transactions, Pattali Makkal Katchi (PMK) president Anbumani Ramadoss on Wednesday urged the Centre to withdraw the proposed transaction fee, warning that the additional cost imposed on merchants could eventually be passed on to consumers through higher prices.

In a post on X, Ramadoss urged the Central Government to immediately withdraw its decision to levy a transaction fee on commercial Unified Payments Interface (UPI) payments exceeding Rs 2,000.
