New Delhi, Aug. 26 -- Congress leader Pawan Khera on Wednesday demanded an independent investigation into the recent death by suicide of IIT Delhi student Rishikesh Kumar and called for a comprehensive probe into student suicides across the Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs) over the past five years.

In a post on X, Khera said that around 70 IIT students have died by suicide in the last five years and alleged that the government has failed to take serious action on the issue.
