Thiruvananthapuram, July 11 -- Keralam Minister K Muraleedharan on Saturday said the District Medical Officer (DMO) will inquire into the death of an 18-month-old boy in Kannur following alleged complications after anaesthesia was administered for stitching a cut lip.

Speaking to ANI, Muraleedharan said a complaint has also been filed with the police and stressed that even though it's a private hospital, such treatment should not be permitted.

"It was reported yesterday, and the DMO (District Medical Officer) will inquire into the matter. We have filed a complaint with the police department as well. Although it is a private hospital, that type of treatment should not be permitted," he said.
