"2026 flood more severe than 2003": local Naval Kishore Gautam on Madhya Pradesh's Chitrakoot floods

Satna (Madhya Pradesh) [India], September 4 (ANI): The Mandakini River is in full spate in Madhya Pradesh's Satna and Chitrakoot areas, affecting several shops, houses, temples, monasteries and ashrams along its course.
The Sati Anusuya Ashram in Chitrakoot has also been severely affected by the floods, with several temples and ashrams damaged or swept away by the surging river. Debris, including idols, can be seen scattered across the area.
Local priest Naval Kishore Gautam said the flood situation was particularly difficult in 2026 in comparison to the flood in 2003 and recalled the damage caused by earlier floods.
