Bullet train project likely to be completed within 5 years: Noriaki Abe Nagpur, Mar 10 (UNI): Noriaki Abe, Minister for Political Affairs at the Embassy of Japan in New Delhi, on Tuesday said that the ambitious Mumbai-Ahmedabad High-Speed Rail Project, popularly known as the bullet train project, is expected to be completed within the next five years. Speaking at an interaction at Indian Institute of Management Nagpur, Minister for Political Affairs at the Japanese Embassy in New Delhi, Noriaki Abe, said the project-being implemented with Japanese cooperation-could take around five more years to complete. Earlier, while presenting the state budget, Maharashtra Chief Minister Fadnavis had stated that work on three stations between Thane and Talasari on the bullet train corridor in Maharashtra is expected to be completed by 2027. He also informed that development plans would be prepared around the proposed bullet train stations at Virar, Boisar and Thane to boost economic growth in those regions. According to officials, once operational, the high-speed rail service will reduce travel time between Mumbai and Ahmedabad to about two hours and seven minutes, with trains expected to run at an interval of 30 minutes. The first phase of the service is likely to begin between Surat and Bilimora, followed by extensions to Vapi and Ahmedabad. Eventually, the complete corridor connecting Mumbai and Ahmedabad will become operational in stages, officials said. UNI PK
