Yogyakarta marks 20 years since quake with resilience drive
Sleman, Yogyakarta, May 22 -- The Coordinating Ministry for Human Development and Culture kicked off the 20th anniversary of the Yogyakarta earthquake by visiting the Disaster-Safe Education Unit (SPAB) at public high school SMAN 1 Kalasan in Sleman, Yogyakarta.
The ministry's Assistant Deputy for Disaster Risk Reduction, Andre Notohamijoyo, stated here on Friday that the commemoration of the two-decade Yogyakarta earthquake serves as an important momentum to rebuild collective memory while strengthening preparedness against future disaster risks.
