Water sprayed on Bandar Lampung roads to clear Anak Krakatau ash
Indonesia, Sept. 6 -- Bandar Lampung city authorities sprayed water on major roads on Sunday to suppress volcanic ash from Mount Anak Krakatau, which has been erupting continuously since Saturday, September 5.
"Bandar Lampung's disaster agency and fire department have been ordered to spray water on several major roads," Bandar Lampung Mayor Eva Dwiana said on Sunday.
The spraying was aimed at wetting ash covering road surfaces and reducing dust that was disrupting motorists and other road users.
"We hope the spraying will reduce airborne volcanic ash from Mount Anak Krakatau that is disturbing residents and road users," Eva said.
Eva also urged officials in each subdistrict to collect data on areas affected by the volcanic ash.
