Jakarta, April 6 -- Minister of Environment Hanif Faisol Nurofiq announced the current national waste management rate has reached 26 percent, a drastic increase compared to 2024.

"Our waste management data currently stands at 26 percent. This figure is a 16 percent increase compared to 2024. The largest contribution to this figure is the serious efforts of district/city governments to end open dumping in some landfill sites," he said during a working meeting with Commission XII of the Indonesian House of Representatives (DPR RI) in Jakarta on Monday.

He explained that based on data from his office, the total waste generated is 141,926 tons per day, of which 37,001 tons per day are managed.
