She said community service activities, including visits and clean-ups at heroes' cemeteries, play a key role in instilling respect for national figures.
"This is not merely about cleaning graves, but also reflecting inward and expressing gratitude for the independence we enjoy," she said at Bambu Runcing Heroes Cemetery on Sunday.
She added that Buddhist teachings emphasize "Katannu Katavedy," which promotes gratitude and repaying kindness, including honoring national heroes.
