Jakarta, March 2 -- Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartarto said the escalating conflict involving the United States (US), Israel, and Iran has disrupted global oil supplies and driven up energy prices worldwide.
The development follows Iran's move to close the Strait of Hormuz, a key route for global oil distribution.
"If it is related to Iran, oil supply will certainly be disrupted due to the Strait of Hormuz, not to mention the Red Sea. So we will see how long this situation continues," he said when met in Jakarta on Monday.
In response, Hartarto said the government has anticipated potential supply disruptions by securing import sources from outside the Middle East.
