Denpasar, Bali, Sept. 25 -- The Denpasar District Court has sentenced two Thai women to seven years in prison each for smuggling 308.25 grams of hashish from Thailand to the Indonesian resort island of Bali.

"After considering the case, the court sentences defendant one Mayuree Prasomtong, 39, and defendant two Nontiya Janpech, 23, to seven years in prison each," presiding Judge Kusuma Wardhani said in Denpasar on Thursday.

The panel found both defendants legally and convincingly guilty of conspiring to illegally possess a Class I narcotic, as charged under the prosecution's first alternative count.
