Jakarta, Aug. 15 -- Indonesia's disaster agency confirmed two deaths after a magnitude 7.7 earthquake struck Nagekeo District in East Nusa Tenggara Province on Saturday, with tsunami warnings later lifted.

Acting Head of the National Disaster Mitigation Agency's (BMKG's) Data, Information and Communications Center Berton SP Panjaitan said the deaths occurred at El Say Port in neighboring Sikka District.

"Based on preliminary reports, two people - a man and a woman - died, while another person was injured," Panjaitan said.

The shallow earthquake struck 15 km deep, centered offshore about 38 km northeast of Mbay, Nagekeo, at 5:58 a.m. Central Indonesia Time, or WITA.
