Bandung, West Java, March 26 -- Two eight-month-old Bengal tiger cubs, Huru and Hara, at Bandung Zoo died from panleukopenia, according to the West Java Natural Resources Conservation Agency (BBKSDA).

BBKSDA spokesperson Eri Mildranaya said both cubs were infected with the virus, which is particularly dangerous for young animals.

"In general, both were infected with panleukopenia. Every effort was made to save them, but the outcome was not as expected," he said in Bandung on Thursday.

He said the cubs were treated through a multi-agency effort involving the Cikole Veterinary Hospital, the Food Security and Agriculture Office (DKPP), BBKSDA, and zoo medical teams.
