Batang, Central Java, Feb. 21 -- State railway company PT Kereta Api Indonesia (KAI) reported that three high school students died after being struck by the Argo Merbabu train while taking selfies near the railway tracks at GOR Sarengat, here on Saturday.

Public Relations Manager of KAI Operations Area 4 Semarang, Luqman Arif, said that after the incident, the Argo Merbabu train made an extraordinary stop for a facilities inspection.

"After being declared safe by the railway crew members, the train resumed its journey at 7:09 a.m. local time," Arif said.
