Jakarta, Sept. 29 -- The Indonesian Ministry of Tourism is pushing for risk management in volcano tourism development by adopting a risk-based approach, leveraging scientific data, implementing tourism business standards, and enhancing human resource capacity.

"Tourists should not rely solely on the visual appearance of a volcano, but must adhere to official activity status updates and recommendations from the Geological Agency," the ministry's spokesperson Nia Niscaya told ANTARA in Jakarta on Tuesday.

Nia stated that operators must tailor their risk management practices to the specific characteristics and risk levels of the tourist activities.
