TNI seizes 21,400 cannabis plants in Papua Highlands
Jakarta, Sept. 10 -- Indonesian military (TNI) personnel have seized 21,400 cannabis plants allegedly belonging to the Free Papua Movement (OPM) in Papua Highlands Province, the military said.
The plants were found in two separate fields in Ibiroma and Hesmat Villages, Kurima Subdistrict, Yahukimo District, on Tuesday, September 8, according to a military statement received in Jakarta on Thursday.
"Based on information obtained in the field, the cannabis fields are allegedly linked to activities of an OPM group led by Egianus Kogoya," said Major General Muhammad Nas, information chief at the TNI Headquarters.
