Timika, C Papua, Aug. 20 -- Indonesian military personnel are pursuing an armed group reportedly abducting nine women, including children and a pregnant teenager, in Jila Subdistrict, Mimika District, Central Papua Province, on August 17.

The nine abducted civilians were identified as Nemerina Wamang, 17, who is newly pregnant; Alin Mesawarol, sixth grade; Nopi Aim, fourth grade; Opinte Meswaro, third grade; Yonita Senawatme, 18; Meria Nibilingame, 15; Wena Katagame, 18; Ilimin Onawame, 18; and Miante Nibilingame, 13.

Mimika Military District Commander Lt. Col. Jozanda said here Wednesday night that troops were deployed immediately after receiving reports that civilians had been abducted.
