Three agriculture workers shot in Highland Papua while delivering aid
Jayapura, Sept. 9 -- Three employees of the Jayawijaya District Agriculture Office were shot while traveling with a group to deliver assistance to residents in Muliama Subdistrict, Jayawijaya District, Highland Papua Province, on Wednesday.
Commander of the 1702/Jayawijaya Military District Command Lieutenant Colonel (Inf) Ilham Datu Ramang, contacted by ANTARA from Jayapura, said the shooting occurred at about 3:45 p.m. local time.
Initial reports indicated the three victims were allegedly shot by an armed criminal group, leaving two dead and one critically injured.
Ramang said the victims were evacuated to Wamena Regional General Hospital.
