Jakarta, March 28 -- Indonesia's education minister urged schools to strengthen digital literacy as the government rolls out new child online protection rules, stressing the need to balance technology use with character development.

Primary and Secondary Education Minister Abdul Mu'ti said teachers play a key role in supporting Government Regulation No. 17 of 2025 on Electronic System Governance for Child Protection, known as PP Tunas.

"The public does not need to worry; we will ensure digital literacy programs in schools continue to run in parallel," Mu'ti said in Jakarta on Saturday.
