Sumatra economic activity recovers after 2025 floods, landslides
Jakarta, Oct. 5 -- The Sumatra Post-Disaster Rehabilitation and Reconstruction Acceleration Task Force reported that local economic activity across Aceh, North Sumatra, and West Sumatra continues to recover and show steady progress after the late 2025 floods and landslides.
This recovery is evident in the reopening of traditional markets, improved access to business financing, and the revival of micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) throughout the three affected provinces in Sumatra.
"As of today, traditional market activation has reached 90 percent in Aceh, while North Sumatra and West Sumatra have both hit 100 percent," said Amran, spokesperson for the task force, during a press conference in Jakarta on Monday.
