Makassar, S Sulawesi, March 28 -- South Sulawesi Governor Andi Sudirman Sulaiman stressed the importance of global peace while hosting US Embassy Charge d'Affaires ad interim Peter M. Haymond, highlighting stability as key to development and welfare.

In a statement received in Makassar on Saturday, Andi Sudirman said peace is the fundamental foundation for progress among nations.

"Peace is the solution for all countries. In a peaceful situation, development can proceed optimally and public welfare can be achieved," he said.

The meeting also covered several national strategic programs underway in South Sulawesi, including infrastructure development, improving education quality, integrated connectivity and child nutrition initiatives.
