Jakarta, Aug. 24 -- The Indonesian government sent six Air Force planes on Monday carrying food supplies and firefighting equipment to disaster-hit areas in East Nusa Tenggara (NTT) and Kalimantan, Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya said.

In a written statement, Teddy said three Air Force planes flew to East Nusa Tenggara, bound for Labuan Bajo and Maumere.

The aircraft carried 31 tons of ready-to-eat supplies, including biscuits, wafers, protein bars, bread and other food, as well as toys for children.

Meanwhile, three planes flew to Pontianak, Palangka Raya and Banjarmasin carrying 500 water pumps, part of 2,000 units to be delivered in stages, Teddy said.
