Jakarta, Oct. 2 -- The Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) is developing a roadmap for its semiconductor ecosystem as competition for high-tech investment intensifies across the region.

The process allows Indonesia to define its role in the semiconductor supply chain by using investment to build industrial capabilities rather than treating capital inflows as an end in themselves.

Indonesia does not need to compete in every stage of semiconductor production. It needs to identify areas where existing capabilities can be expanded and where domestic companies can move into higher-value activities.
