Jakarta, Aug. 16 -- The National Search and Rescue Agency (Basarnas) has cleared roads blocked by landslides, allowing search and rescue teams to expand their operations on the second day following a magnitude-7.7 earthquake in Nagekeo, East Nusa Tenggara (NTT).

Basarnas Deputy for Operations Edy Prakoso said on Sunday that personnel and primary SAR equipment had been deployed extensively since 6 a.m. local time, with operations focused on Mbay City in Nagekeo and the Reo area of Manggarai.

"The team has successfully opened land access in the Reo area, which was previously cut off by landslides," he confirmed.
