Jakarta, June 18 -- Indonesia will continue importing crude oil from Russia despite easing tensions in the Middle East and plans to reopen the Strait of Hormuz shipping lane, the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) said.

The ministry's spokesperson Dwi Anggia said procurement of Russian crude remains underway as part of the government's effort to strengthen national energy reserves.

"Yesterday, there was a plan to reopen the Strait of Hormuz, and the situation remains highly dynamic," she said during a press conference in Jakarta on Wednesday.
