Jakarta, July 8 -- An official Indonesian government delegation is scheduled to depart for Iran on Thursday evening (July 9) to attend the funeral ceremony of the late Iranian Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.

Speaker of the People's Consultative Assembly (MPR) Ahmad Muzani confirmed the timeline on Wednesday, stating that the delegation will fly directly from Jakarta to Mashhad-the city in northeastern Iran where the long-serving leader will be laid to rest.

"The Indonesian delegation to Iran is scheduled to depart tomorrow night," Muzani told reporters in Jakarta.

The Indonesian delegation is expected to arrive in Mashhad on Friday morning (July 10), heading directly to the funeral venue.
