Jakarta, Sept. 30 -- The Indonesian government accelerates the development of inter-island electricity grid interconnections, prioritising Sumatra-Java link, to connect new and renewable energy sources with industrial hubs and areas of electricity demand.

"Our immediate target is establishing the connection between Sumatra and Java. Subsequently, we will develop connections linking Sumatra with the Riau Islands and Sumatra with Bangka Belitung," Deputy for Energy and Mineral Resources Coordination at the Coordinating Ministry for Economic Affairs, Ellen Setiadi, said in Jakarta on Wednesday.
