Jakarta, Aug. 9 -- Indonesia's Coordinating Minister for Food Affairs Zulkifli Hasan said the government is encouraging the use of pyrolysis technology to complement waste-to-energy (WtE) plants in accelerating national waste management.

Hasan noted the capacity of WtE plants currently being developed cannot process all generated waste, necessitating alternative processing technologies capable of converting waste into energy.

"In addition to WtE plant development, the government is also promoting the use of pyrolysis technology, so that more waste can be converted into energy," Hasan said in an official statement received here in Jakarta on Sunday.
