PWI urges protection for Indonesian journalists on Gaza mission
Jakarta, May 19 -- The Indonesian Journalists Association (PWI) condemned the detention of Indonesian journalists by Israeli forces during a Gaza-bound humanitarian mission and urged stronger protection for reporters working in conflict zones.
PWI Chairman Akhmad Munir said intercepting civilian humanitarian missions in international waters was unjustifiable and endangered journalists carrying out professional duties.
"We strongly condemn Israel's interception and detention of the humanitarian mission heading to Gaza, including Indonesian journalists on assignment," Munir said in a statement Tuesday.
