Jakarta, Aug. 4 -- President Prabowo Subianto is set to announce a new round of incentives for electric vehicles (EVs) in the coming weeks, according to Finance Minister Purbaya Yudhi Sadewa.

"I believe the president will launch stimuli in the next two or three weeks for EVs, including around 500,000 electric motorbikes and electric cars," he said at the Gaikindo Indonesia International Auto Show in Tangerang, Banten, on Tuesday.

He noted that the incentives would include a full exemption from the luxury goods sales tax, while the government would also cover 40 percent of the value-added tax for vehicles meeting certain criteria.
