Jakarta, April 8 -- President Prabowo Subianto said his recent and upcoming overseas visits are focused on securing oil supplies for Indonesia, as global distribution risks intensify.

Addressing around 800 senior officials, including ministers, agency heads and security leaders, he dismissed suggestions that his trips were ceremonial or for leisure.

"Ladies and gentlemen, I have to travel here and there to secure oil supply," Prabowo said at a government work meeting at the Presidential Palace complex in Jakarta on Wednesday.

He said rising geopolitical tensions had pushed the government to step up engagement with international partners to safeguard energy security, which he described as critical to economic stability.
