Jakarta, Aug. 17 -- President Prabowo Subianto and Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka arrived at Merdeka Palace in Jakarta on Monday for Indonesia's 81st Independence Day commemoration.

Prabowo wore traditional national attire featuring a blue top and trousers, a brown-toned songket cloth and black cap as he received the ceremony commander's report.

Gibran wore a traditional black outfit from East Nusa Tenggara for the ceremony.

Seventeen cannon blasts from the direction of the National Monument, accompanied by a long siren, marked the start of the ceremony in Merdeka Palace's courtyard.
