Jakarta, Aug. 22 -- Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto has departed for Kalimantan to inspect areas affected by forest and land fires and directly lead response efforts in several areas.

"On Saturday morning, August 22, 2026, President Prabowo flew directly to Kalimantan to inspect and lead simultaneous efforts to tackle forest and land fires," Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya said in a written statement cited in Jakarta on Saturday.

The previous day, he added, Prabowo had instructed several senior officials of the Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI) and National Police (Polri) to work directly with regional governments and local residents to tackle forest and land fires in four Kalimantan provinces.
