East Aceh, Aceh, Feb. 28 -- The floods and landslides that struck three provinces in Sumatra in late November 2025 left more than just a trail of destruction; they left survivors with the task of piecing their lives back together, clinging to the hope of a future to look forward to.
The disasters-which claimed over 1,200 lives-continue to have a far-reaching impact. Education has been hit particularly hard, with at least 4,800 schools affected, leaving many students to attend classes in temporary, makeshift facilities.
