Jakarta, Sept. 28 -- The Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) said the preparedness capacity of communities and local governments must be built through a series of training programs to reduce earthquake disaster risk.

BMKG Head Teuku Faisal Fathani said in a statement here on Monday that this preparedness training, in the form of an Earthquake Field School (SLG), was held for the community of Jatiyoso Sub-district, Karanganyar District, Central Java.

Karanganyar's geography, which is close to active land faults and the southern Java subduction zone, requires a trained safety response and reflex among every local village resident.
