Jakarta (ANTARA) - Indonesia needs to immediately strengthen its economic foundations, reduce the impact of global conflicts on the national economy, President Prabowo Subianto stressed.

He referred to conflicts in Ukraina, Gaza and the rising tensions in the Middle East from the US-Iran war, which have triggered price spikes for food and energy commodities in the domestic market.

"What happens in distant parts of the world affects us. What happens in Ukraine affects us, it affects the price of corn, wheat and oil," Prabowo said on the sidelines of the launch of downstreaming projects in Cilacap, Central Java, as monitored from Jakarta on Wednesday.
