Jakarta, May 9 -- President Prabowo Subianto said Indonesia will renovate schools nationwide within the next two to three years, including in remote border areas, during a visit to Miangas Island on Saturday.

He said the government is committed to upgrading facilities on Indonesia's northernmost island, including public health centers and schools.

"We will renovate all schools. This year and over the next two to three years, we will upgrade schools across Indonesia," he told residents.

In April, Prabowo said the government aims to complete repairs on about 288,000 schools by 2028.

Around 17,000 schools were renovated in 2025, with another 70,000 targeted this year and 100,000 planned for 2027-2028.
