Jakarta, May 9 -- President Prabowo Subianto pledged to repair all public health centers nationwide after visiting Miangas Island, Indonesia's northernmost outpost, highlighting gaps in basic healthcare infrastructure in remote areas.
During the visit, Prabowo said he inspected local facilities, including a puskesmas that had reportedly not been renovated for decades.
"I saw the puskesmas here, and was told it has not been repaired since the Soeharto era," he said, according to a Presidential Secretariat broadcast on Saturday.
"We will repair all puskesmas across Indonesia immediately," he added.
