Jakarta, May 16 -- President Prabowo Subianto on Saturday instructed state food agency Bulog to prioritize domestic food security over exports as global uncertainty and the Middle East conflict continue to pressure international food supplies.

Prabowo said Indonesia had managed to secure domestic food stocks despite the worsening global food crisis, with several countries now seeking to buy Indonesian commodities.

"Bulog, do not sell too cheaply, but do not overcharge either. Remember, this crisis could last a long time. Our priority is to secure our people," Prabowo said in Nganjuk, East Java.

The president said Indonesia's rice supply remained stable and demand from overseas buyers had increased in recent months.
