Jakarta, Aug. 25 -- President Prabowo Subianto emphasized that Indonesia must stop importing oil and LPG within three years to strengthen national energy independence, as he launched the 100 GWp solar power program in Jembrana, Bali, on Tuesday.

"We must not import even a single barrel of oil anymore. We must not import. God willing, in the shortest time possible, not even a single canister of LPG," the president said, as quoted from the Presidential Secretariat's official online broadcast in Jakarta.

Prabowo stated that the target must be supported by the construction of 100 gigawatts (GW) of solar power capacity and geothermal power plants, the development of gas fields, and increased national oil lifting.
