Jakarta, April 16 -- President Prabowo Subianto's recent visits to Russia and France are strategically important for safeguarding Indonesia's energy security amid global geopolitical tensions, an economist said Thursday.

Bhima Yudhistira, executive director of the Center of Economic and Law Studies (Celios), said engagement with Russia focused on securing oil supplies, while talks with France centered on defense ties and broader economic cooperation.

"State utility PLN and sovereign wealth fund Danantara are expected to promptly follow up on renewable energy investments, which are highly relevant amid the global energy crisis," he said.
