Jakarta, July 20 -- President Prabowo Subianto praised Indonesia's bullion bank for successfully managing 153 tons of gold, valued at an estimated US$20 billion, since its launch in 2025.

Speaking at a press conference following a Plenary Cabinet Meeting at the State Palace on Monday, the President highlighted the gold bank as a crowning achievement of his 20-month administration.

The establishment of the bullion bank, which is jointly operated by state-owned pawnshop PT Pegadaian and Islamic lender Bank Syariah Indonesia (BSI), marks a structural shift in how Indonesia leverages its massive mineral wealth.
