Jakarta, July 30 -- President Prabowo Subianto ordered state-owned railway operator PT Kereta Api Indonesia and the Ministry of Transportation to construct the Trans-Sumatra railway line and proceed with the Trans-Kalimantan project.

"After Trans-Sumatra is finished, then move to Trans-Kalimantan. If possible, we will start at the same time," he said at the inauguration of the first phase of renovations to the cultural heritage building at Semarang Tawang Station in Semarang, Central Java, on Thursday.

The Trans-Sumatra railway line will connect Bakauheni in the south to the northernmost region of Sumatra.
