Jakarta, Sept. 9 -- President Prabowo Subianto officially dispatched Indonesia's 430-strong contingent competing in the 2026 Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games in Japan on Wednesday.

The send-off ceremony was held at the Presidential Palace Complex in Jakarta, on Wednesday, where the president handed the national flag to athlete representative Veddriq Leonardo, a speed climber.

"I am proud to meet with all of you today. Sports are vital in the life of our nation and state," Prabowo said.

He noted that the 430 athletes represent hundreds of millions of Indonesians through their dedication and skills.
