Indonesia, July 31 -- A power bank caught fire aboard a Batik Air flight from Makassar to Jakarta on Thursday, but the aircraft landed safely, Sultan Hasanuddin International Airport authority official Taufan Yudhistira said.

"We confirmed that a passenger's power bank caught fire aboard a flight from Sultan Hasanuddin Airport to Soekarno-Hatta Airport," Yudhistira said.

The incident occurred during Batik Air flight ID 6143, he said.

The situation was brought under control and the flight continued normally, arriving safely. The airline's aviation security team reported the incident to Soekarno-Hatta airport authorities.

The passenger who brought the power bank was handed over to airport authorities for questioning, Yudhistira said.
