PLN moves to restore electricity in NTT after M7.7 earthquake
Jakarta, Aug. 15 -- Indonesia's state electricity company, PT PLN (Persero), is moving to restore power after a magnitude 7.7 earthquake struck Nagekeo District in East Nusa Tenggara Province on early Saturday.
"PLN personnel continue to maintain electricity operations in several areas. However, several aftershocks have affected the power system, including outages at the Maumere and Rangko gas-fired power plants, causing blackouts in several locations," PLN's East Nusa Tenggara Regional General Manager, F. Eko Sulistyono, said.
PLN said the restoration efforts were being carried out in stages, beginning with the diesel power plant in Labuan Bajo, which has been declared safe.
