Jakarta, May 6 -- Indonesia's Presidential Security Force (Paspampres) held a Subject Matter Expert Exchange (SMEE) with the U.S. Marine Forces Special Operations Command (MARSOC) to sharpen personnel capabilities, its commander said on Wednesday.

Commander Major General Edwin Adrian Sumantha said the exercise is a strategic step to strengthen troops' skills and readiness in carrying out security duties.

"The cooperation also reflects close ties and friendship between the two institutions and, more broadly, between both countries," Edwin said in a statement.

He said Paspampres personnel must remain ready to operate in any situation and terrain.
