One dead, two injured after East Nusa Tenggara's 7.7-magnitude quake
Indonesia, Aug. 15 -- One person died and two others were injured after a magnitude 7.7 earthquake struck off Nagekeo District in the Indonesian province of East Nusa Tenggara on Saturday, local search-and-rescue officials said.
"We evacuated one person who died after being struck by debris from a building," Maumere Search and Rescue Office chief Faturahman said by phone from Kupang, the capital of East Nusa Tenggara Province.
The unidentified victim was found in the waiting room of Lorens Say Port in Maumere, Sikka District, which was damaged by the earthquake.
"The waiting room has been cleared," Faturahman said.
The two injured victims were taken to a nearby hospital for intensive treatment, he said.
