Jakarta, Sept. 7 -- Indonesia's Manpower Minister Yassierli said social protection for old-age informal workers, who are a mainstay of the national economy, must be a top priority for the government and other stakeholders.

"This is a concern for all of us, in ensuring they also continue to receive social protection, because every citizen has the right for social protection," Yassierli said in a statement here on Monday.

He said one of the government's current challenges is the domination of workforce structure by informal sector workers. He mentioned that of Indonesia's roughly 155 million workforce, about 60 percent work in the informal sector.
